We understand that sending your child to nursery for the first time can be a daunting experience for both the child and the parent. At Pangbourne House, we strive to make this transition as smooth as possible. Before the official starting date, we invite you and your child to visit our nursery to get to know us and our team. This visit is not only to give your child the opportunity to gain happy anticipations of what's to come but also allows us to learn more about your child and your values.
Our Ethos
At Pangbourne House, we believe in creating a safe and welcoming environment for all our children and families. Our team of dedicated teachers are passionate about providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters a love of learning and encourages children to be their best selves. We follow the three principles of our caring code: Be kind and gentle, Listen well, and Use your words. These principles lead us to develop positive qualities such as compassion, respect for others, and a love of looking outwards into the world.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum includes the Montessori method, complemented by the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance, and our unique Creative Art Room. The Montessori method encourages children to enjoy the process of learning, without the competitive drive of other curricula. Our teachers observe and record the children's progress, avoiding the 'failure to keep up' approach. Instead, we introduce new activities when the child is ready, ensuring that each child develops their full potential.
The Early Years Foundation Stage guidance understands the importance of giving a child a holistic education and highlights the importance of practical experiences rather than being taught. Our curriculum also includes creative learning, which we believe is essential for encouraging imaginative thinking and understanding of other people.
Creativity in the Classroom
At Pangbourne House, we believe that creativity is essential for children to develop their full potential. Our creative activities allow children to experiment, explore, and work together, fostering a sense of community awareness and compassion. By engaging in creative play, children develop their communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and reasoning skills.
Our Story
Pangbourne House was founded by Fia Russell-Cobb, a dedicated educator with over 30 years of experience. Fia's vision was to create a nursery that reflected the Montessori method and placed a strong emphasis on creativity. She was joined by Ana Aranha and Olivia Hoare, who have been instrumental in shaping the nursery's philosophy and approach.
