Celebrating Childhood, Nurturing Futures

Threshers Day Nursery is a charity-run establishment located in the heart of St Mary Cray, which has been providing affordable childcare for local families for over 47 years. Our nursery is dedicated to supporting the growth and development of children aged between 12 months and 5 years old, in a loving, caring, and nurturing environment.

Our team of dedicated and friendly staff are qualified in both childcare and first aid, ensuring that the children in our care receive the best possible support and attention. We understand the importance of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in a child's development and keep detailed 'learning journeys' about the children, tracking their progress while they are with us.

We are open Monday - Friday, 51 weeks of the year from 8am - 6pm, and we offer the 15 hours, term-time only funded spaces for 2, 3 & 4 year olds, as well as the extended 15 hours for 3 & 4 year olds.

Ofsted Inspection

In December 2022, Threshers Day Nursery underwent an Ofsted Inspection. We are pleased to announce that the overall effectiveness of the nursery was rated 'Good'. This report is available to view on our 'About Us' page, and it highlights the best qualities of our nursery.

Sensory Cabin

At Threshers Day Nursery, we are proud to have a 'Sensory Cabin' that is up and running and going very well. This cabin provides us with the opportunity to work on a one-to-one basis with the children, focusing on their individual needs and helping them progress and develop each day. We are also fortunate to have Matt and Amanda from Surprise Box, who provide fun games, songs, and support to the children and staff.

Sport and Physical Development

Stuart, our football coach, along with one of our Trustees, Simon, comes to the nursery every Tuesday morning and works with the pre-school children. They teach the children gross motor skills such as balancing and coordination, catching and throwing, and spatial awareness and how to share and turn take. We hope to bring this activity back to the nursery for our children once it is Covid safe.

Awards and Achievements

In 2018, Threshers Day Nursery entered The Bromley Awards competition in the category 'Best Social Enterprise/Charity'. We were delighted to win, and we are still very proud of this achievement. Our award is proudly displayed in the office for all to see.
