Nurturing young minds, cultivating a love of learning
Learning Works for Children is a family-run day nursery based in a spacious building on Carlton Road, Nottingham. Our nursery and play scheme has been established since 2006, and we have a dedicated team of qualified staff who have been working together for over 20 years. Our aim is to provide high-quality childcare in a safe and caring environment, ensuring that each child receives the opportunity to grow and develop, and learn through play.
Our Values
We acknowledge that children grow up in various family settings, reflecting a range of values and beliefs. We are sensitive to this and believe that all children should be valued and their development made possible in an environment that respects their individual identity, culture, and heritage. We pride ourselves on our welcoming, homely environment, commented on by many of our visitors.
Our History
Our nursery was previously based at Learning Works for Women, a social enterprise that provided training and employment for women. In 2006, we moved to our current location and established ourselves as a standalone day nursery. We have since grown and expanded, providing high-quality childcare and preschool education to children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. We also offer a holiday club for children aged 5-11.
Our Team
We have a dedicated team of qualified staff who are passionate about providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for children. Our staff are experienced in childcare and early years education, and many have been with us for over 20 years. We believe that a happy and supported staff team is essential for providing the best possible care for children.
Our Facilities
Our nursery has three large rooms, a large physical play area, and our own outdoor garden. We have a quiet, comfortable area for parents to relax and observe their children at play. Our facilities are designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.

We offer a range of services to support children's learning and development. These include:
- A variety of stimulating activities and play experiences designed to support children's individual needs and interests

Our Mission
At Learning Works for Children, our mission is to provide high-quality childcare and preschool education in a safe and caring environment. We are committed to supporting children's learning and development, and providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families.
Our Parental Involvement
We see our nursery as a 'family' and have an open door policy, so parents and children feel able to share ideas and contribute to nursery life. Parental involvement is important to us, so we can ensure that every child has the best possible care with their individual needs being met.
Our Key Person Concept
Each child has a named "key person" who will support and encourage their learning and development at their own pace. The key person will keep a record of the child's development, which consists of art work, photographs, observations, and all their achievements, which are shared with parents.
Our Ofsted Registration
We are Ofsted registered and fully compliant with the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
