El Coto: where traditional Spanish cuisine meets warm hospitality
Introducing El Coto
Welcome to El Coto, a Spanish restaurant that has been serving the Newcastle community since April 2004. Our establishment is located just a stone's throw away from Eldon Square and St James' Park, making us an ideal spot for hungry shoppers and sports enthusiasts alike. Although our Durham branch has closed, we are still committed to providing the same level of excellent service and authentic Spanish cuisine that our loyal customers have come to expect from us.
Our Restaurant
At El Coto, we take pride in our spacious and inviting atmosphere. Our bar area is the perfect place to enjoy a drink before or after your meal, and our dining space is spread out over two floors, ensuring that there is always enough room for everyone. We also have a cosy and heated courtyard for al fresco dining during the summer months. Our rustic decor, combined with dark wood floors and wooden ceiling beams, creates a warm and inviting ambience that is perfect for any occasion.
Our Menu
At El Coto, we offer an extensive menu that is full of hot and cold tapas, salads, cured meats, and of course, our famous paellas. Our tapas are portions of dishes typically found in the gastronomy of Southern Spain, and all of our dishes are home-cooked using both ingredients sourced from Spain and locally bought produce. We also offer a range of tapas selection menus, which are perfect for large groups or those who find it too hard to choose from our wide range of dishes.
If you have any special dietary requirements, we have got you covered. Our menu indicates dishes that are suitable for vegetarians, vegans, and those who are gluten or dairy-free. We also have an allergen guide available, and our staff are always happy to accommodate any specific needs that you may have.
Private Functions
At El Coto, we can accommodate large parties and have a first-floor restaurant available for private functions. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or hosting a corporate event, we would be delighted to help you make it a success. We can work with you to create a customised menu and ensure that everything runs smoothly, allowing you to focus on enjoying yourself.
Bookings
We are open 7 days a week, all day from 12 noon, and our kitchen is open until 9:30 pm Sundays to Thursdays and until 10:30 pm Fridays & Saturdays. To enable us to accommodate guests at a range of different times during the evening, we normally operate sitting times, especially during weekends. We usually offer guests their table for 2 hours for bookings before 8 pm, allowing us to accommodate those diners wishing to eat later in the evening. For tables booked from 8 pm onwards, you would have the table for the rest of the evening.
If you would like to make a reservation, please call the restaurant on 0191 261 0555 or email us at info@elcoto.co.uk. We look forward to welcoming you to El Coto.
