Learning, caring and sharing together
Royd Nursery Infant School is a unique and inclusive educational institution that strives to make a difference in every pupil's life. Our motto, "Learning, caring and sharing together, " reflects our commitment to nurturing every child's academic, social, and emotional growth. We are proud of our dedicated teachers who have high expectations for each pupil and help them achieve their full potential.
Forest Schools
At Royd Nursery Infant School, we believe that learning should not be limited to the classroom. Our Forest Schools programme is an exciting and fun way for children to learn in an outdoor setting such as woodlands. This programme has been proven to improve children's confidence, self-esteem, and communication skills. It is a great opportunity for children to connect with nature and learn about the world around them.
School Film Club
Our school has been producing films since 2006, and we are very proud of our achievements. We have won national and international film awards, which is a testament to the creativity and hard work of our pupils and teachers. If you require any support accessing our film club accounts, please speak to your child's class teacher.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to provide a broad and balanced education that meets the needs of all pupils. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for our Nursery and Reception classes and the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1. Our curriculum is enriched with extracurricular clubs, educational visits, and special events that provide pupils with diverse learning experiences.
Our current topic for this half-term is "Why do spiders eat flies?". We have been learning about minibeasts and their habitats and plants. We have enjoyed planting our own sunflowers and exploring the Foundation Stage yard to see what minibeasts we can find.
Inclusive School
Royd Nursery Infant School is an inclusive school that welcomes children from all backgrounds and abilities. We have a 39 place Foundation Stage 1(Nursery Provision) and three classes in Year 1 and Year 2 with 30 pupils in each. We have a well-planned and gradual transition from nursery to reception, and parents are welcome to visit the school.
Admissions
Children become eligible to join school in our Foundation Stage 2 class during the year in which they have their 5th birthday. Parents may elect to send their child to school on either a full-time or part-time basis in September or you may delay starting until the Spring or Summer terms.
We follow Sheffield Admissions' over-subscription criteria if the number of applications exceeds 90. This criteria gives priority to children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or statement for SEN, children in care of the Local Authority, siblings of current pupils, and children living in the catchment area.
In conclusion, Royd Nursery Infant School is a unique and inclusive school that provides a high-quality education to all pupils. We are committed to nurturing every child's academic, social, and emotional growth and provide diverse learning experiences through our curriculum, extracurricular clubs, and special events. We welcome children from all backgrounds and abilities and follow Sheffield Admissions' over-subscription criteria for admissions.
