A child is a flame to be kindled, not a vessel to be filled.
The Little Academy Day Nursery is a private day nursery and pre-school for babies and children aged between three months and five years. We are committed to providing excellent standards of childcare and pre-school education, and are open 51 weeks of the year, from Monday to Friday, between 7.30am and 6.30pm. We accept childcare vouchers and offer funded sessions for two and three-year-olds.
Learning through Play
At The Little Academy, we believe that children learn best through play. Our children are encouraged to explore and discover the world around them, and we provide a wide range of opportunities for them to develop their skills and knowledge through play. We have a spacious and well-equipped garden, and we regularly take the children on outings to local parks, libraries and museums.
A Place to Grow
Our aim is to ensure that all of our children are happy, confident and ready for entry to school. We have a strong focus on developing social skills, emotional intelligence and independence, and we work closely with parents to ensure that each child's individual needs are met.
Sports & Play
We believe that physical activity is an essential part of a child's development, and we provide a wide range of opportunities for children to engage in physical play. Our children are encouraged to learn through play in and out of our garden, and we have a strong focus on developing gross and fine motor skills.
Childcare Harrow
The Little Academy is located in Harrow, and we are proud to serve the local community. Our nursery is a purpose-built building located in the grounds of Hatch End High School on Tillotson Road - off Headstone Lane in Harrow. The building is safe and secure with an outside play area to provide care for children aged 3 months to five years.
Nutrition & Meals
At The Little Academy, we see meal times as a social and enjoyable time where children will develop healthy eating habits and excellent table manners. We provide a selection of nutritious and healthy meals and snacks with meal alternatives for dietary requirements which are all freshly prepared and cooked on site by our nursery cook.
Daffodil Room - Baby Room
At The Little Academy, we believe that babies need to be loved and nurtured. For younger babies, their pattern of feeding and sleeping will be maintained and we will adapt to their needs as they develop. The room is self-contained and well resourced allowing the babies and younger toddlers to explore their environment and develop their natural curiosity in their own time.
Poppy Room - Toddler Room
Toddlers are keen to explore the world around them and at The Little Academy, we encourage this natural instinct. Your child will be able to explore a range of sounds, explore their senses of taste and smell, explore objects with a wide range of Properties, explore body movement, practice mobility, be outdoors.
Daisy Room - Nursery Room
Within the nursery area, the children will begin to operate more independently and develop their own ideas and direct their own play. They learn to respect others, develop their social skills and have a disposition to learn. The children are given the opportunity and encouragement to use their skills in a range of situations and for a range of purposes.
Sunflower Room - Pre-School Room
In the pre-school room, the staff have a good knowledge of the skills the children need to move onto school so that we can help your child get ready for school. The staff work with your child to develop their interest in learning. This will be achieved through purposeful play which will be designed to be interesting and stimulating as well as cover the Early Learning Goals for the Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum.
