Our School Philosophy

At Hartwell Primary School, we believe that every child is unique and has the potential to thrive in a supportive and stimulating environment. We understand that education is a partnership between home and school, and we strive to work closely with parents to ensure their child is happy, confident, and inspired to reach their full potential.

Our Christian Ethos

Our school is founded on a strong Christian ethos of mutual respect, care, and trust. Our values underpin all of our work and our beliefs. We aim to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and respected. Our values are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and are reflected in our Behaviour Policy, which encourages respect, kindness, and responsibility.

Our Values

Our values are at the heart of everything we do. They are:

  • Honesty: every day, we encourage honesty and integrity, quoting Proverbs 28 v 6, "Better to be poor and honest than rich and dishonest".
  • Achievement: we aspire for our children to achieve their full potential in every way, quoting Galations 6 v 7, "A person will reap exactly what he sows".
  • Respect: we promote respect for all, encouraging our children to treat others with kindness and care, quoting 1 Peter 2 v 17, "Respect everyone - love your fellow believers".
  • Trust: we foster trust between teachers, pupils, and parents, quoting Psalm 117 v 9, "Trust in the Lord - he helps and protects you".
  • Well-being: we encourage our children to be confident in what they say, guiding them towards a peaceful heart, quoting Proverbs 14:30, "A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body".
  • Enthusiasm: we inspire our children to approach every task with enthusiasm and energy, quoting Colossians 3 v 23, "Whatever you do work at it with all your heart".
  • Loving God's world: we promote a love for God's world and all its creations, quoting Proverbs 10 v 12, "Love conquers all".

A Positive Experience

However, Kenny Taylor had a vastly different experience, giving the school 5 stars. He praised the school's opportunities for learning, lack of bullying and distractions, and the diverse and attentive teachers. He also appreciated the clean atmosphere and the school's engagement with parents through activities and fundraisers.

J., on the other hand, gave the school a 2-star rating based on their observation of teacher favoritism towards certain students, with children using bad language and bullying each other.
