Thinking for ourselves, caring for each other

Oulton Primary School is a recently refurbished school that offers a modern and stimulating learning environment for its pupils. Since its reopening in June 2012, the school has been providing high-quality education to the children of Oulton and the surrounding areas. Our architect-designed building is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a sensory room, pastoral base, multiple intervention rooms, spacious library, breakfast club area, purpose-built classrooms, and a large sports hall.

Our school is set in a beautiful location, with large playgrounds, adventure playgrounds for both KS1 and KS2, and a large Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) in the KS2 playground. We also have separate Early Years playgrounds for Reception and Nursery with specialist equipment. Our beautiful field provides ample space for outdoor activities, and we are currently developing an environmental area for science studies, which we have named "The Wild Area".

Our School Logo and Theme

Our school logo is a dolphin jumping through the 'O' of Oulton, which was designed by a pupil around 20 years ago. The idea for the logo was inspired by the local Oulton Beck, which local people refer to as the River Dolphin. Over time, our dolphin logo has inspired our sea creature and coastal theme. The school council named the Head Teacher's office the 'Lighthouse', the Deputy Head's office the 'Beach Hut', and our Learning Mentors work in the 'Reef'. Pupils and staff are proud of our unique school theme and the story behind it. As a school, we have learnt about dolphins and feel that they are excellent role models.

Our Curriculum

Our teaching and learning approach is based on the principle of "thinking for ourselves, caring for each other". We encourage our pupils to be inquisitive, creative, and independent learners who are not afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. Our curriculum covers all the key areas of learning, including English, mathematics, science, computing, design and technology, history, geography, art and design, music, and physical education.

In addition to the national curriculum, we offer a range of extra-curricular activities, including sports clubs, music groups, and drama clubs. We also provide intervention programs for pupils who require additional support in literacy and numeracy.

Our Staff

Our staff are dedicated and experienced professionals who are committed to providing the best possible education for our pupils. We have a strong team of teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff who work together to provide a supportive and stimulating learning environment. We are proud of our academic achievements and consistently achieve good results in national tests. Our teachers work hard to ensure that every child reaches their full potential, and we provide additional support for pupils who require it.
