Seeking to discover something new or unique in each project
At Murray John Architects, we are dedicated to discovering something new or unique in each project we take on. We do not believe in a 'house' style, and instead, approach every design with a careful study of the site's historical, technical, social, and financial characteristics, along with attention to our clients' budgets. Our admiration for excellent work of all periods, and respect for what is of value in the most ordinary structure, drives our design process.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is built around a passion for identifying and enhancing the rich historic urban fabric. We believe that every project should be approached with a sense of respect and care, and that the unique character of each site should be preserved and celebrated. We are committed to working closely with our clients, residents, and community groups to ensure that our designs reflect the needs and aspirations of all stakeholders.
Conservation Expertise
Our team of experienced architects and conservation specialists has a deep understanding of the complexities of building conservation. We have worked on a wide range of projects, from listed buildings and historic streets to ecclesiastical and commercial buildings. Our expertise includes the conservation of walls, houses, and commercial buildings, as well as the development of conservation plans for museums, galleries, and other cultural institutions.
Recent Projects
Our recent projects demonstrate our passion for building conservation and community engagement. We have worked on several high-profile projects, including the Lancaster West Estate in North Kensington, where we helped residents design and refurbish their homes and community spaces. We have also collaborated with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and the Ministry of Housing & Local Government on a community-led refurbishment project, and have worked with the City of Westminster, Lambeth, and Kensington and Chelsea on several community, social, and townscape conservation projects.
