At Railway Cottage Nursery, we are proud to be Barrhead's first private nursery, offering a warm and welcoming environment for children from 12 weeks to 5 years old. Established in 2013, we have gained a reputation for providing the best preschool education and care possible, trusted by parents and adored by our children.

Our Vision and Aims

Our vision is to provide childcare of the highest quality and excellence for children from 0-5 years. We strive to ensure that our services meet the individual needs of each child, focusing on learning through play and creativity. Our aims are to provide a safe, secure, and stimulating environment that promotes all-around development, based on the Curriculum for Excellence and Pre-Birth to Three document.

Parents as Partners

We believe that parents are an integral part of our nursery, and we strive to build trusting and respectful relationships with them. We have a parents-as-partners policy that outlines the various methods we use to encourage parents and carers to be fully involved in the life of the nursery. These methods include online learning journals, come-and-play days, parent information evenings and workshops, parents' night, keyworker meetings, and text alerts.

Settling in Procedure

We understand that starting nursery can be an overwhelming experience for some children. Therefore, we offer a settling-in period for all new children. This period typically consists of three sessions, during which the child will be introduced to the nursery environment, staff, and other children. Our keyworkers will work closely with the child and their parents to ensure a smooth transition into nursery life.
