Wiles and Maguire Architects, located in a 1950's school building overlooking the river in York, is a practice specialising in the conservation and adaptation of historic buildings for modern use. Established in 2001 by Andrew Wiles and Martha Maguire, the firm has built a reputation for excellence in the field, with a particular focus on ecclesiastical, historic houses, industrial archaeology, and 20th century listed buildings. Our dedicated team of professionals, led by Andrew Wiles, work tirelessly to ensure that the unique character and heritage of each building is preserved and enhanced.

The Director: Andrew Wiles

Andrew Wiles is a fully qualified architect and a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), as well as being on the Historic England approved register of 'Architects Accredited in Building Conservation' (AABC). He holds a MA in the 'timber construction of the early medieval period', a subject that remains a passion to this day. Andrew is an architect member of the Sheffield Diocesan Advisory Committee and the Catholic Diocese of Hallam, sitting as their Historic England liaison. He is also a registered Church inspecting Architect with the Diocese of York, Sheffield, Ripon, Durham, and Lincoln, making him eminently qualified for the repair and regeneration of historic buildings.

With over thirty years of experience in the field, Andrew has a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of traditional skills and conservation techniques. He regularly attends specialist courses and workshops to stay up-to-date with the latest modern conservation technology and trends. His expertise and ability to tackle any conservation challenge are unparalleled, making him a trusted and respected figure in the industry.
