Every child has the right to shine
Ashlands Primary School is a community school located in the picturesque town of Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Established over 70 years ago, we have been serving families in the area with utmost dedication and commitment. Our school is situated at the foot of the stunning Ilkley Moor, overlooking the iconic Cow and Calf rocks, making for a truly inspiring and motivating learning environment.
Our Ethos
At Ashlands Primary School, we are firm believers that every child has the right to shine. We focus on providing a well-rounded education that caters to the academic, spiritual, emotional, cultural, and physical development of each child. We strive to instil a strong work ethic in our students, encouraging them to challenge themselves and be the best version of themselves.
Our dedicated teaching staff deliver lessons with determination and enthusiasm, using an increasingly diverse and vibrant curriculum. We aim to create a learning environment that is both stimulating and rewarding, where children can develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime.
Our Services
We offer a range of services to support the needs of our students and their families. From our robust assessment and attendance policies to our focus on data protection and e-safety, we are committed to ensuring that our students receive the best possible education in a safe and secure environment.
In addition to our academic curriculum, we offer a variety of outdoor learning and eco-schools initiatives, promoting sustainability and environmental awareness. We are also proud of our mental health programme, which provides support and guidance to students facing emotional or psychological challenges.
Our school is part of the Moorlands Learning Trust, a multi-academy trust responsible for the admission of children into Ashlands Primary School. We have a two-form entry system, with a capacity of 2 classes of 30 in each year group.
We hold Open Days in November of each year, but prospective parents are always welcome to visit our school and meet our staff. For admission-specific queries, please contact Bradford Council, who operate on behalf of the Moorlands Learning Trust.
Community Engagement
At Ashlands Primary School, we believe in the importance of community engagement. We work closely with local community events, support groups, and holiday activities, providing opportunities for our students to learn and grow beyond the classroom.
We communicate regularly with parents and carers, keeping them informed of school events, news, and updates. We have a virtual office system for absence reporting, mobile phone policies, and lost property, and we welcome parental involvement in all aspects of school life.
We are proud of our school uniform policy, which promotes a sense of community and belonging. We also have a Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Local Offer programme, providing additional support and resources for students with special educational needs.
Our Staff
Our staff are our greatest asset. They are dedicated, experienced, and passionate about providing the best possible education for our students. From our Headteacher, Mrs Donna Russell, to our teaching and support staff, we are committed to creating a learning environment that is both challenging and rewarding.
Conclusion
At Ashlands Primary School, we are proud of our long-standing history of serving the Ilkley community. We are dedicated to providing a well-rounded education that caters to the needs of each individual child, and we are committed to creating a learning environment that is both stimulating and rewarding.
