The Pheasant Pub with Rooms is a beautifully restored 500-year-old country pub situated in the picturesque village of Gestingthorpe, near Halstead and Sudbury, on the Essex/Suffolk border. Our pub and restaurant have been completely redecorated by Diana Donoghue since 2006, with a focus on creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
About Us
Our story began when Diana Donoghue purchased the pub in 2006. With a passion for excellence, Diana has transformed the business, adding a smokehouse in 2007 and building a separate dwelling for 5 luxury en-suite bedrooms in 2011. Today, we are proud to offer a unique blend of traditional pub hospitality and modern luxury accommodation.

Our accommodation consists of 5 luxury en-suite bedrooms, each individually decorated and equipped with modern amenities. We also offer special packages and deals, including dinner, bed, and breakfast packages, as well as wedding reception and party packages.

Situated in the heart of rural countryside, The Pheasant is the perfect base for exploring the Essex/Suffolk border. We are close to Castle Hedingham and Sudbury, and just a short drive from the picturesque town of Halstead. Our location offers endless opportunities for walking, cycling, and exploring the great outdoors.
