Built in 1687, Prestonfield was originally the private residence of Sir James Dick, Provost of Edinburgh, and later became a hotel in 1958.

Our story began in 2003 when James Thomson, a renowned restaurateur and hotelier, purchased the property and undertook a meticulous restoration to restore the hotel to its former glory. Over the years, James has continued to pour his heart and soul into Prestonfield, adding his own unique touch of drama, romance, and magic.
