The Bell is an 18th Century country pub located in the picturesque village of Shenington, rural North Oxfordshire, on the edge of the Cotswold escarpment. With a rich history dating back to 1700, this traditional English inn has provided a warm welcome to locals and travellers alike, offering a place to eat, drink, and relax in a cozy atmosphere.

Our Story

Proprietors Mike Hendry and Jennifer Allott bring a combined 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry to The Bell, along with their loyal companion Max the dog. Their vision is to create a proper pub, where everyone feels at home. Under new ownership since 2016, The Bell aims to provide good food, a warm welcome, and an emphasis on freshly prepared, quality ingredients.

Our Services

At The Bell, we offer a range of services to make your visit with us truly special. Our kitchen strives to create a constantly changing menu that works within the seasons, using quality local ingredients to serve imaginatively cooked yet honest food in a relaxed setting. Our bar serves local Hook Norton ale, an ever-changing guest beer, and a selection of British and Continental lagers, alongside Hogans cider from nearby Alcester. We also offer an extensive selection of spirits and liqueurs, and a variety of homemade bar snacks.

Our Food

Our menu is constantly changing, but always focuses on quality local ingredients, imaginatively cooked to create honest food that is sure to please. Our dishes are predominantly meat and fish, but we can prepare vegetarian or vegan meals with advanced notice. Please inform us of any dietary requirements or allergies at the time of booking.

Our Drink

Our bar is stocked with a selection of local and national drinks, including local Hook Norton ale, an ever-changing guest beer, and a range of British and Continental lagers. We also offer Hogans cider from nearby Alcester, and an extensive selection of spirits and liqueurs. If you're feeling peckish, our homemade bar snacks are the perfect accompaniment to your drink.
