Where Everyone Can Bowl, Everyday!
Welcome to the Colchester Indoors Bowls Club, a prestigious and long-standing institution that has been serving the Colchester, Essex community since 1982. Our club is proudly affiliated with the English Indoor Bowling Association Limited (EIBA), the Essex County Indoor Bowling Association (ECIBA), and the London & Southern Counties Bowling Association.
Our club boasts a spacious and well-maintained facility that includes six bowling rinks, a restaurant, bar, shop, changing rooms, and an exceptional viewing gallery for spectators. We are also proud to offer full facilities for disabled members, including toilet facilities, specialist wheelchairs, access ramps to the green, and ample free parking with designated disabled spaces.
At Colchester Indoors Bowls Club, we cater to all ages, with a vibrant Junior Section that offers special sessions on Sunday evenings throughout the winter season. Children under three years old are not permitted in the bowling area or bar, but we welcome families and encourage the participation of young members in our sport. We offer reduced rates for junior members (up to age 25) and have a good selection of bowls to suit.
Our club is managed by a dedicated team, led by Club Manager, Keith Cullis, and his five Assistant Stewards. We have a thriving membership of 674 bowling members and 125 social members. Our club coaches are available to provide instruction, usually at the lunchtime "Roll Up" sessions, and lessons can be booked in advance with the Coaching team.
Our Services
At Colchester Indoors Bowls Club, we offer a range of services beyond our bowling facilities. Our restaurant serves delicious meals and snacks, and our bar offers a variety of beverages in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Our shop carries a selection of bowling equipment and apparel, and our changing rooms provide a convenient space for members to prepare for their games.
Our club is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and improving our energy efficiency. During 2017/18, we made significant upgrades to our facility, including the installation of LED lighting, an electrical air source heat pump system, and a mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) system. We have also installed solar panels on our roof, which has reduced our power take-up from the grid and further reduced our carbon footprint. These improvements have also resulted in cost savings, which we have reinvested in the refurbishment of many areas of the club.
Colchester Indoors Bowls Club is open for bowling all year round, with extended hours during the winter season. We offer a variety of club competitions, friendly matches, and social events, and we welcome new members to join our community.
