Our Story
Sudbrook School has been at the heart of the community for nearly 60 years, teaching generations of children from local families. Our school is based in a Village Hall on a quiet private road which backs on to Richmond Park. It is co-owned by Mrs Jo Jotischky, whose daughters attended the school, and Mrs Jackie Mitchell, a former primary school head.
Our Values
At Sudbrook, we aim to enable children to express their individuality and to set their own pace. We value the diversity of all the children in our care and celebrate their differences. Our aspiration is to consistently exceed your expectations by providing truly outstanding care for your child; continuous improvement is at the heart of our ethos. Our staff constantly evaluate their work and display a genuine passion for children.
Our Curriculum
At Sudbrook School, all children are supported in developing their full potential at their own pace. Our programme of observation and assessment enables our dedicated and experienced teachers to plan a curriculum tailored to the needs of each individual child offering the requisite level of adult support. Each child has a Key Person who will make sure that education and care provided is right for the child's particular needs and interests.
Our Approach to Education
We believe that playing and exploring is essential in children's learning and development. Our teachers use developmentally appropriate play activities and address each child's needs and interests to ensure that every child is challenged and stimulated to meet the closely interconnected developmental milestones as defined by the Early Learning Goals.
Monitoring Progress
We have an on-going programme of observation, assessment and recording children's education attainments and progress, which is shared with parents regularly on Tapestry and is updated by both by the Key Person and the parents. We also hold parent/teacher discussions in the Autumn and Spring terms and provide a written report in the Summer Term. During these meetings, the child's progress and areas for development will be discussed.
Our Staff
We are proud to employ committed, highly qualified staff who have been at the school for many years and show an absolute dedication to providing the highest standards in nursery education. Our staff have an excellent knowledge of the children and form close relationships, giving them self-confidence and helping them learn and develop through play.
What Our Parents Say
At Sudbrook School, we take great pride in the positive feedback we receive from our parents. Our children consistently excel academically, socially, and emotionally, and our parents credit us with providing a warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment that has helped their children thrive.
