The Pizza Cafe - a family-run institution in Newton Abbot that has been serving up delicious, fresh food to the good people of this lovely town since 1987. Our story begins with Mark, a seasoned restaurateur with a passion for innovative and tasty cuisine. After years of managing restaurants, working as a chef, and gallivanting around the world in search of new flavours and inspiration, Mark settled in Devon with his family and set out to create a unique, family-friendly eatery that would become a staple of the community.

Our Vision

Mark's vision for The Pizza Cafe was to create a place where families and friends could gather to enjoy mouth-watering pizzas, freshly brewed coffee, and hearty salads - all in a warm and welcoming environment. From the outset, Mark was determined to break away from traditional pizza-making conventions, instead infusing his menu with a fusion of international flavours and ingredients. This bold approach quickly endeared The Pizza Cafe to the local community, who flocked to the restaurant to taste the exciting new options.

Our Story

Over the years, The Pizza Cafe has developed into a beloved institution in Newton Abbot. Mark's wife, Sue, designed the restaurant's interior, while Mark put together the first menu, featuring an eclectic mix of global flavours. The restaurant's first employee, Steve, joined the team at just 16 years old, helping Mark with dishwashing and serving duties. Today, Steve remains a key member of the team, now serving as Restaurant Manager. Mark's son, Michael, has taken over the reins, working tirelessly to maintain the restaurant's high standards while introducing new ideas and innovations.

Our Team

At the heart of The Pizza Cafe's success is our dedicated team of staff members, many of whom have been with us for over 20 years. Our commitment to our employees is reflected in the strong bonds we've formed with the local community. We're proud to support numerous local charities, including Rowcroft Hospice and The Helen Foundation, and to have become a regular fixture in the town's social calendar.

Our Magic

So, what's the secret to The Pizza Cafe's enduring popularity? For starters, our dough recipe remains unchanged, and many of our original customers are still with us today. But it's not just about consistency - it's about innovation, passion, and a commitment to using only the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch or a special occasion meal, we're here to welcome you to The Pizza Cafe, where you'll find a warm, friendly atmosphere and a menu that's as exciting as it is delicious.
