Come for a pint, stay for a meal, and leave with a smile
Welcome to the John Barleycorn, a traditional thatched village country pub that has been providing hospitality for over 350 years. Our team, led by Ian and Andrew, is dedicated to offering a unique and memorable experience to all our guests.
Our Story
Originally a beer or ale house in the 1600s, our pub has undergone many transformations over the centuries. Today, we take pride in our cosy bar with comfy seats, where all are welcome, including muddy boots and four-legged friends. Our locals are a friendly bunch, always ready for a chat, and you're invited to enjoy a board game with friends or take some time for yourself.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
We're passionate about sustainability, and wherever possible, we use locally sourced seasonal produce and the freshest ingredients for our menus. Inspired by classic British food with a French twist, our chefs craft delicious dishes that are sure to delight.
Eat, Drink, Sleep, and Enjoy
Our pub offers a range of services to cater to various tastes and preferences. Enjoy a relaxing meal in our restaurant, snack in the bar, or graze alfresco in our beautiful garden. We have a great range of traditional ales, craft beers, and premium lagers, as well as an impressive wine list that complements our French-inspired cuisine. For those who wish to stay with us, we have four beautifully decorated en-suite rooms, each equipped with luxurious amenities.
What's On
We regularly host events, including our popular Quiz Night every Sunday, where you can test your knowledge and compete with friends. Our Supper menu is available from 6-8pm, and the entry fee is just 2 per person, with a maximum of 6 people per team.
