Our History

The Ship Inn has a rich and varied history, dating back to 1654 when it was a regular haunt for royalty enjoying the salmon fishing on the nearby River Test. Over the years, our inn has played host to smugglers, sailors, and travelers from far and wide, each leaving their mark on our historic walls. Today, your hosts Alison and Charlie invite you to experience The Ship Inn as it would have been back in 1654 - beautifully restored, with original beams and long-forgotten inglenook fireplaces.
