Our family-run hotel has been lovingly restored to provide a unique and unforgettable experience for our guests. Located in the charming town of Castle Douglas, our hotel offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and is within walking distance of the town centre.
Our Story
Our journey began in April 2018 when Tammy and I, the hotel's owners, visited the hotel from our home in Henley on Thames. It was love at first sight when we saw the beautiful building and the stunning area of Dumfries and Galloway. We decided that it was the perfect time to start the next phase of our lives with our one-year-old son and our adorable cocker spaniel, Hamish.
Our goal from the very beginning was to create a hotel that is not formal, but rather relaxed, welcoming, friendly, and a home away from home. As a family-run hotel, we aim to provide high levels of service to all our guests. We share our love for dogs and from the very start, we knew that the hotel had to be pet-friendly.

Our hotel offers a range of services to make your stay with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Our comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms range from standard doubles to luxurious junior suites, each with its own unique charm. We also offer a range of dining options, including our Sunday carvery, dinner menu, kids' menu, and afternoon tea. Our friendly and efficient team is always happy to serve a great selection of wines, beers, spirits, and soft drinks in our lounge bar.
Business Meetings
If you're looking for a venue for your business meetings, Ernespie House Hotel is the perfect location. We're conveniently located at the edge of town, making it an ideal spot for conferences and events. Our large banquet hall can accommodate up to 100 people, making it an ideal venue for weddings and other celebrations.
Pets Welcome
We're proud to be a pet-friendly hotel, welcoming dogs of all sizes to join their owners on holiday. A small charge applies, and we're happy to provide dog beds and bowls to make your furry friend feel at home.
