Our Founder - Bob McDonald

Dunnottar Park Architects was established by Bob McDonald, a fully qualified architect with more than 30 years of experience. Bob's illustrious career has seen him work with acclaimed practices across the UK, including Building Design Partnership in Glasgow, Robinson & McIlwaine and Hall Black Douglas in Belfast, and most recently with the Architects Design Group (ADG) in Plymouth.

Bob's architectural education began at Queens University, where he pursued a Degree and Diploma in Advanced Architectural Studies (DAAS). His exceptional academic performance earned him the Royal Society of Ulster Architects Bronze Medal in his final year. Following his studies, Bob gained valuable experience working with several architectural firms in Glasgow, Lisburn, and Belfast before relocating to Plymouth in 1999.

During his time at ADG, Bob rose to the position of Equity Director and served as the principal designer for a diverse range of projects, from small-scale domestic extensions and individual houses to large mixed-use multi-million-pound developments, medical facilities, higher education establishments, and residential apartments. Among his notable achievements at ADG was the successful completion of the 9-storey luxury apartment building - Harbour Arch Quay - in Sutton Harbour, Plymouth for the Sutton Harbour Group in 2023.
