Delight in Effort, Acceptance, and Achievement
Botanic Primary School is a vibrant and inclusive school that serves a diverse community in the heart of the city. We are deeply committed to providing a high-quality education that enables every child to delight in effort, delight in acceptance, and delight in achievement. Our school is a place where children feel valued, respected, and cared for, and where they are encouraged to develop their talents and interests to the full.
Our school has a rich history and a strong sense of community. We are proud of our heritage and our traditions, and we are always looking for ways to build on our successes and improve our practice. We have a dedicated and experienced team of teachers and support staff who are committed to providing the best possible education for every child.
At Botanic Primary School, we believe that every child is unique and that they all have the right to learn in a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment. We are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, and we celebrate the diversity of our community. We are also committed to developing strong partnerships with parents, carers, and families, and we value their contributions to their children's learning and development.
Our Services
At Botanic Primary School, we offer a wide range of services that are designed to meet the needs of our children and their families. These include:
- High-quality teaching and learning: We are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum that is tailored to the needs and interests of every child. We use a range of teaching and learning strategies that are designed to engage and motivate children, and we use assessment to monitor progress and inform future learning.
- Pastoral care and support: We have a strong pastoral system in place that is designed to support the emotional, social, and physical well-being of every child. We have a team of trained pastoral staff who are available to provide advice, guidance, and support to children and their families.
- Extra-curricular activities: We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities that are designed to enrich and extend the learning opportunities available to children. These include sports clubs, music groups, drama clubs, art and craft clubs, and environmental clubs.

- Parental involvement: We value the contributions of parents and carers, and we actively encourage their involvement in the life of the school. We have a range of opportunities for parents to get involved, including volunteering in class, supporting trips and events, and serving on the school council.
Our School Council & Wellbeing Champions
At Botanic Primary School, we believe that children should have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. Our School Council is made up of children from across the school who are elected by their peers to represent their views. The School Council meets regularly to discuss issues that are important to the children, and to plan events and activities that will benefit the whole school community.
Our Wellbeing Champions are a group of children who are trained to provide support and guidance to their peers on issues related to mental health and well-being. They are easily recognisable by their yellow badges, and they are available to talk to any child who needs their support.
Our International Work
At Botanic Primary School, we are proud of our international connections and we are committed to promoting global awareness and understanding. We have links with schools in several different countries, and we regularly take part in international projects and exchanges. We believe that these experiences enrich the learning opportunities available to our children and help them to develop a greater understanding of the world around them.
Our Sloan International Award
We are proud to have been awarded the prestigious Sloan International Award for our commitment to excellence in education. This award recognises our dedication to providing a high-quality education that is rooted in the values of effort, acceptance, and achievement. We are committed to continuing to build on our success and to providing the best possible education for every child.
Communication Concerns
The reviews highlight a lack of open communication between the school and child's family. This issue is a significant concern, as families feel that their concerns are not welcome or taken into consideration.
Lack of Family Involvement
The school's failure to engage with families and address their concerns has led to a sense of exclusion and neglect. This lack of involvement is detrimental to the well-being and development of the child.
