Unsatisfactory Experience
A disappointed reviewer, Mhairi Gibson, shares their frustrating encounter with a property firm. Despite being a loyal client who had paid thousands in fees on time, they were suddenly dropped as a client due to alleged "unprofessional conduct."
Details of the Incident
The reviewer had built an annexe in St Andrews, which received planning permission. However, the firm's director, Darren, allegedly complained to his friend, Lyle Smith, a planning enforcement officer at Fife Council, claiming the construction was non-compliant with planning and building regulations. The council investigation contradicted this claim, showing that the construction adhered to the regulations. Despite this, Darren severed ties with the reviewer, citing that they were "bringing his firm into disrepute."
Unprofessional Behaviour
The reviewer finds Darren's actions to be unacceptable and unprofessional. They question why he would reach out to a planning enforcement officer on their behalf, particularly after the council investigation concluded that there was no non-compliance. The reviewer concludes that Darren was more concerned with his own reputation than addressing the issue professionally.
Preservation of Business Reputation
The reviewer explicitly states that Darren was willing to jeopardize his business relations in order to salvage his own reputation. They highlight that the other members of the firm, Jo and Mike, are excellent professionals.
