Inspiring Photography, Enriching Lives

At Stills, we are passionate about photography and its power to inspire, educate, and connect people. As a centre for photography based in the heart of Edinburgh, we have been supporting the advancement, enjoyment, exploration, and understanding of photography in Scotland for over 40 years.

Our History

Established in 1977, Stills has a rich history of providing a platform for photographers to showcase their work, learn new skills, and connect with like-minded individuals. Over the years, we have evolved to become a champion for the important and powerful role that photography plays in the world today.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services designed to cater to the needs of photographers, artists, and enthusiasts. Our Courses & Learning programme provides high-quality, subsidised training in all areas of photography and digital media, with small classes and an informal, creative learning environment. Our Production Facilities offer a creative base for anyone to come and hone their craft, with hands-on experience and the freedom to learn, practice, and fine-tune.

Our Exhibitions programme features three gallery exhibitions each year, showcasing the work of local and international photographers. Entry is free, and our gallery is open five days a week from 11am-5pm. We also host a range of Events, including artist talks, workshops, and lectures, designed to inspire and educate.
