History of DUA Architecture
DUA Architecture was established in 1988 by David Underhill in his garden chalet. His rich experience included working for a local authority and small and medium-sized practices, including Sir Denys Lasdun's. Commissions quickly followed, and it wasn't long before the chalet was replaced with new accommodation attached to the front of the house. In 2000, William Lycett became a business partner, having previously gained valuable experience designing and overseeing community buildings such as schools and hospitals in Africa for a non-profit organisation. In 2002, they formed one of the country's first limited liability partnerships, DUA Architecture. Martin Hammond became a partner in 2012 after completing his Part II qualification, joining the practice in 2007 as a Part I graduate. Despite the changes in structure and working methods since the early days, DUA Architecture continues to provide superior quality and service, aided by the benefits of IT and enhanced forms of communication.
