At David Herbert Architects, we are a passionate and ambitious RIBA Chartered Architectural practice located in the heart of Windsor, Berkshire. Our expertise lies mainly in individual contemporary houses, residential schemes, and mixed-use/commercial developments. We undertake refurbishments and extensions to existing properties, including extensive works to Grade II listed buildings, those falling within the Windsor Conservation Area, and new build homes within the flood plain and along the River Thames.
Our work to date has included projects in Windsor, mainly across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, and the South East. We have also completed exciting architectural commissions further afield and are always willing to broaden our work horizon by exploring new and different grounds.

We undertake a variety of projects from one-off houses to residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes. Equally, we complete work in Conservation Areas and to Listed Buildings. Our process involves initial discussions and sketches, followed by developed and more detailed drawings, before the schemes are taken to site and built.
Our Story
David Herbert, being passionate about buildings and Architecture from an early age, was always destined to be an Architect. From school, David Herbert went to pursue his love of buildings by studying Architecture at the University of Portsmouth in 1995 and graduated in 2001 with Distinction. Following employment with a few multi-disciplinary practices, to further understand the world of being an Architect, and to simply learn more about buildings, it seemed a natural progression to form David Herbert Architects Ltd.
The practice was founded in 2010, and we were happy to have celebrated in recent times, 10 years of being an RIBA Chartered Practice. We have thoroughly enjoyed the journey so far and the projects we have designed and completed. We are continually inspired by the work we do, the world around us, and remain excited by the prospect of what lies ahead.
Our Approach
Our approach to every project we are commissioned to complete is initially to fully understand the client's brief, their objectives, and the dream of what they are hoping to realize. From initial meetings, we explore options to ensure the best possible solutions are reached - equally understanding through experience, schemes that will have a strong chance of being approved. During the design process, conversation and dialogue, we feel are essential, and are the essence of how we work.
We have a love of modern architecture, and the works of 20th Century Architects - this has continued to flourish from University days, inevitably influencing our work. Our passion remains, and we will follow this path if the project allows. We do, of course, approach each project on its own merits, the site, outlook, and surrounding architecture, and are always respectful of work that has preceded us.

Our mission has always remained simple: listen, design, build, and deliver high-quality projects, ultimately exceeding clients' expectations. With a direct and personal approach on every project, clients' needs and wishes are balanced with the opportunities presented, good design as well as the constraints we inevitably have to work with. The creation of a well-designed and considered space can truly enhance the user's life.
Interaction with the natural elements, such as sun, light, water, and nature, which may include views from and within the site, all contribute to the creation of a successful place. The key main elements are always in our thoughts during our design process, and it is our aim to simply indulge in these. We endeavor to create beautiful buildings, appreciated on completion and beyond - timeless.
