Your trusted advisor for life's most important decisions
At A J Careless Solicitors, we pride ourselves on being a boutique law firm that truly understands the importance of treating each client as an individual. Founded in 1991 by Tony Careless, our team of experienced solicitors and support staff are dedicated to providing a personable, approachable, and friendly service to our clients. We believe that our clients deserve more than just a solicitor - they deserve a trusted advisor who can guide them through life's most important decisions.
Our Services
We offer a wide range of services to cater to our clients' diverse needs. From buying and selling residential property to making or updating Wills, arranging Power of Attorney, and assisting with Probate, we are here to help. Our team is also experienced in dealing with the affairs of older people, including home visits to Residential Care Homes, Nursing Homes, hospital, and the Hospice.
Our Team
Our team is led by Tony Careless, the Principal of the Practice, who has a background in various areas of legal practice and now concentrates on property work. Sandra Brown, a senior Solicitor, practices in all aspects of Wills, Probate, and Affairs of the Elderly. Wendy Webb, a conveyancing executive, deals with all areas of residential conveyancing, and Ian Clark, a Chartered Legal Executive, specialises in drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and assisting families with the administration of estates.
Our Approach
We understand that every client is unique, and that's why we take the time to get to know each and every one of them. We believe in building long-term relationships, and our clients appreciate our transparent and honest approach. We are easily accessible, approachable, and friendly, and our helpful support staff are always happy to assist with any queries or concerns.
Our Fees
We believe in being transparent about our fees, and that's why we provide pricing guidelines for our services. Our fees cover all the work required to complete the sale and/or purchase of your home, including dealing with registration at the Land Registry and dealing with the payment of Stamp Duty Land Tax or Land Transaction Tax. We also provide a breakdown of our disbursements, which are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties.
Professionalism and Efficiency
Many reviewers have praised Careless Solicitors for their professionalism, politeness, and efficiency in handling their conveyancing and property-related matters. They have been described as "very professional", "polite", and "made the whole process run very smoothly". The team's communication skills have also been commended, with some reviewers noting that they were kept informed throughout the process.
Contrast with Poor Service
However, not all reviewers have had positive experiences. One reviewer was left dissatisfied after being ignored by the solicitor and being treated rudely by a conveyancing "executive". This reviewer felt that the solicitor's attitude was hostile and unprofessional.
Knowledge and Helpfulness
Some reviewers have praised the solicitors for their knowledge and expertise in their respective fields. They have been described as "knowledgeable", "helpful", and "easy to work with". One reviewer even noted that the solicitor they worked with had a sense of humour, which helped to make the experience less stressful.
Location and Availability
One reviewer mentioned that the solicitor they worked with was located in an inconvenient location, making it difficult to attend meetings. Another reviewer, however, mentioned that the solicitors were proactive and made an effort to accommodate them.
Mixed Feelings
Some reviewers have noted that, while the solicitors were efficient and helpful, there were some issues with communication and organisation. One reviewer gave a rating of 4 stars, noting that the process was made to be very simple and stress-free, with the solicitors being efficient and keeping to their timescales.
