Publishing for a better world
Nestled in the charming Norfolk countryside, the Fishermans Return extends a warm welcome to visitors and locals alike. This 300-year-old brick and flint Freehouse is a hidden gem situated in the unspoilt village of Winterton-on-Sea, within easy reach of long sandy beaches and scenic walks. The pub has seen just four changes of ownership in the past 100 years, reflecting its deep-rooted history in the community. The most recent change came in 2009 when Kate and John Findlay passed the baton to the current publican, Darrin Winter, after 34 years of dedicated service.
At the Fishermans Return, we take pride in providing a cosy and friendly atmosphere that makes it the heart of Winterton-on-Sea. Originally a beer house, it was known as Juby's before becoming the Fishermans Arms and finally the Fishermans Return. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join their owners for a relaxing visit.
The Pub and its Offerings
Our establishment boasts an impressive selection of up to five real ales and Westons Old Rosie Cider, complemented by freshly prepared food that features locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Given our proximity to the sea, it's no surprise that fish features prominently on our specials board.
Food is served from Monday to Friday, starting from noon until 2:30 pm for lunch, and resuming from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm for dinner. On weekends, enjoy continuous service from noon to 8:30 pm. There's no need to book a table, but we kindly ask large groups of ten or more to provide advanced notice and pre-ordering for a smoother experience.
