Welcome to St James Nursery and Pre-School, a family-owned business that has been providing quality childcare in Southampton for over 45 years. Since our establishment in 1976, we have been dedicated to providing a nurturing, friendly, stimulating, and secure environment for children aged between 3 months and 8 years. Our nursery is located in Shirley, Southampton, opposite St James Park, and we are proud to have stayed open during the COVID-19 lockdown, following current government guidelines to ensure the safety of our staff and children.

At St James Nursery and Pre-School, we are proud to hold 7 Healthy Early Years Awards, including the Gold standard in 2020. We were also the first setting in Southampton to achieve the Gold award and the first setting to achieve the new HEYA Mental Health and Well-Being Award in 2022. In 2020, we were delighted to be awarded "The Curiosity Approach" Accreditation and started our "ECO friendly" accreditation, teaching children to look after the environment and safeguard our futures.

We offer all-day and sessional, quality childcare, accepting tax-free childcare, vouchers, and the government funding (30 hours, 2/3/4 year). Our nursery opens 51 weeks of the year, and we provide secure, online Learning Journeys, giving parents immediate photos, videos, and observations of their children's progress.

Our Services and Fees

At St James Nursery and Pre-School, we offer a range of services to meet the diverse needs of our families. Our services include:

• Nursery Care: We provide full-time and part-time nursery care for children aged between 3 months and 5 years. Our nursery care is designed to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn and grow.
• Pre-School Education: We provide pre-school education for children aged between 3 and 5 years. Our pre-school education is designed to prepare children for school, focusing on the seven areas of learning and development outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Holiday Club: We run a small holiday club for children aged between 4 and 8 years during school holidays. Our holiday club offers a range of activities, including arts and crafts, sports, and outdoor play.
• Meals and Snacks: We provide healthy meals and snacks for all children in our care. Our meals and snacks are prepared on-site by our qualified cook, using fresh and locally sourced ingredients.
• Extra-Curricular Activities: We offer a range of extra-curricular activities, including sports, dance, music, and foreign languages.

Our fees are competitive and reflect the high quality of care and education we provide. We accept a range of childcare funding options, including tax-free childcare, childcare vouchers, and the government's 30-hour funding for working parents.
