We believe in people, the planet, aspiration & collaboration
At Designfarm Architects, we are guided by our belief in people, the planet, aspiration, and collaboration. We are passionate about working with you to create uniquely crafted spaces that enhance the way we live, work, and play. We are committed to using materials in a sensitive and creative manner, ensuring that excellent architecture can be achieved within any site and budget.
We have over a decade of experience in the architectural profession, having worked in both large and small practice environments. We firmly believe that the architect's primary function is to listen to the client, understand their aspirations, and elevate them. We recognise that architecture cannot be confined to a particular style, but must always be a unique response to the site and its surroundings. Design is a collaborative process, and we are dedicated to building better spaces through shared desires.
Selected Works
Some of our notable projects include Merrivale, The Old Lodge, Cotteswold, Fourways, Langley Vale, Camley, and Falmouth. These projects demonstrate our commitment to designing high-quality spaces that meet our clients' needs and reflect our dedication to sustainability and innovation.
Publications
We are proud to have contributed to the education of future architects through our publications. Our work has been featured in "Educating Architects: How Tomorrow's Practitioners Will Learn Today" by Neil Spiller and Nic Clear, published by Thames and Hudson Ltd in 2014. We have also published articles in the "Architectural Design" Sept/Oct Issue and "Bartlett Designs: Speculating with Architecture, " edited by Iain Borden in 2009.
Our Founders
Designfarm Architects was founded in 2005 by a husband and wife team, Dan and Dominique.
Dominique Farmer, BA(Hons) DipArch ARB, is an architect with experience across many sectors, including commercial, sport, and healthcare. Her passion, however, lies within the residential sector. She has significant experience in designing spaces for living, ranging from large urban developments and masterplans to one-off private houses, small extensions, and large renovations, both within conservation and contemporary design. Dominique has gained successful planning applications in a number of difficult and sensitive sites, including within conservation areas and areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Dan Farmer, BA(Hons) DipArch(dist) MArch ARB RIBA, is an architect with experience in multiple sectors, including residential, office, medical research, and mixed-use schemes. He has worked for several internationally successful architectural practices and is an Associate Lecturer at the University of West England (UWE). Throughout his career, he has developed techniques to generate, develop, and represent new architectural and spatial possibilities through film, animation, and motion graphics, which he continues to explore for architectural clients. His work has been exhibited across London and published in a number of architectural publications.
When not at work, Dominique can often be found running around with their two young daughters or up in the vegetable patch fighting slugs. Dan loves films and when he's not being terrorised by his daughters, he can often been found hitting things with sticks, or 'drumming' as he likes to call it.
