Established in 1774 by Thomas Pittis as an auction house, the business has evolved significantly over the centuries to become a trusted name in the property market. Francis Pittis Snr. took over his father's business in the 1800s, solidifying the company's reputation as the island's leading property auctioneer.

In the 1850s, Sir Francis Pittis, the grandson of Thomas Pittis, founded Sir Francis Pittis Estate Agents, which quickly gained prominence as a trusted and respected estate agency firm. Sir Francis Pittis was a respected figure in the community and served as the Mayor of Newport eight times. In the 1900s, Sir Francis Pittis Estate Agents underwent a rebranding and became known as Sir Francis Pittis & Son.

In 1981, our founder, Paul Rooney, began his estate agency journey by founding Rooney & Co, a firm that provided premium service for a varied budget. In 1991, Paul Rooney acquired Prudential Property, which marked the beginning of Pittis as we know it today.
