Inspections, Testing & Reports

It is recommended that a periodic inspection is carried out at least every 5 years for a business, every 10 years on owner-occupied properties, and every 5 years or at each change of occupancy for rented accommodation. The test will certify whether the electrics in a property are safe and inform you if anything needs upgrading. An Electrical Installation Condition Report will be issued, detailing any observed damage, deterioration, defects, dangerous conditions, and any non-compliance with current safety standards. It is a good idea to carry out regular checks around the house on the condition of your cables, switches, sockets, and other accessories. If anything unusual is noticed, such as burn marks on plugs and sockets or buzzing or crackling sounds, it is best to get your electrics checked as soon as possible.
