Transforming your roof, transforming your home
The Civic Trust Awards is a distinguished organisation that has been recognising excellent architecture, planning, and design in the built environment since 1959. Over the past six decades, we have evaluated and honoured more than 7000 projects that have positively influenced the local communities they serve. As the longest-standing built environment awards scheme in Europe, we are proud of our rich history and our commitment to community-focused initiatives.
Our patrons play a significant role in promoting the scheme to industry professionals and the general public. As ambassadors, they help spread the word about the importance of outstanding architecture, planning, and design in enhancing the quality of life in our communities. Our advisory group, which consists of independent members, further strengthens our status as a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to serving the community.
The Award
The Civic Trust Awards scheme was established in 1959 to recognise outstanding architecture, planning, and design in the built environment. Our mission is to encourage the preservation and enhancement of the built environment for the benefit of local communities, now and in the future. We achieve this by celebrating projects that demonstrate excellence in design, accessibility, sustainability, and innovation.
We offer several categories of awards, including Civic Trust Awards, Pro-Tem Awards, AABC Conservation Awards, and Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design. Each category highlights specific aspects of project excellence, and together they provide a comprehensive platform for recognising exceptional contributions to the built environment.
Assessors
Our assessors are experienced professionals from various backgrounds, including architecture, planning, conservation, accessibility, and sustainability. They undergo a rigorous selection process and receive training to ensure that they can effectively evaluate projects based on our criteria. Our assessors play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and credibility of the Civic Trust Awards scheme.
To become an assessor, applicants must demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: architecture, planning, conservation, accessibility, or sustainability. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in site visits, engage in thoughtful discussions, and contribute to the decision-making process for awarding projects.
