As of 1st June 2022, Hall and Birtles became part of Counterculture Partnership LLP, one of the UK's leading law firms. This merger provides many benefits and strengthens our position in an increasingly complex and competitive market while preserving our unique personality and family feel.

Our combined businesses will offer clients a broader range of professional services, including business advice, employment law, and accountancy. As an existing client, you will continue to work with the same people at Hall and Birtles, operate from our offices in Hawes and Leyburn, and maintain our Yorkshire Building Society agency. The services we have provided to you in the past will continue to be offered by the merged business, regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

The integration of Hall and Birtles and Counterculture will take some time, and you will first notice some changes to our website and emails. Our History

Critchley Hall Solicitors was established in the 1970s by John Hall, who has practised law in the Yorkshire Dales for many years. Stuart Hall, his son, joined the firm in 2004, followed by Debby Parish in 2005, creating a three-partner law firm. The firm was also appointed as a Yorkshire Building Society Agency in 2005.

David Gall LLB established a firm in 1992, and in 2010, Alastair Birtles and Michael Birtles became partners in the firm. Together, they have acquired over 40 years worth of knowledge and experience working for a number of law firms prior to that. Unlike most law firms, we do not charge as soon as you step through the door or pick up the phone. Instead, let us first see how we can be of service.
