Ashcroft Farmhouse is a multi-award winning Bed and Breakfast located just outside the village of East Calder, West Lothian, near the heart of Scotland. Our beautiful ranch-style farmhouse, built in 1993, offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a peaceful break or a busy golfing, sightseeing, or touring holiday.

Our Story

Derek and Elizabeth have been running their Bed and Breakfast business for over 50 years, and still love it as much as they did when they first began providing accommodation for paying guests. With a passion for hospitality and a dedication to providing exceptional service, they have created a truly unique and memorable experience for their guests. Sadly, Derek passed away in 2020, but Elizabeth continues to maintain the high standards they set together.

Our Accommodation

Our golf-themed accommodation, including six en-suite bedrooms, is located on the ground floor, ensuring that guests don't have to carry luggage upstairs. Each room is beautifully decorated and equipped with amenities such as blackout curtains, tea and coffee facilities, complimentary toiletries, and free Wi-Fi. Our lovely lounge is the perfect place to relax in the evening after a busy day, and our breakfasts are served in the 19th hole on individual tables.

Our Garden and Surroundings

Derek's beautiful landscaped gardens have won numerous awards over the years, and there is garden furniture available for guests to enjoy picnics or a refreshment in the evenings. Ashcroft Farmhouse is surrounded by countryside, yet is only 10 miles from Edinburgh City Centre, providing the perfect setting for a peaceful break or a busy golfing, sightseeing, or touring holiday. Other famous Scottish towns and cities within easy driving distance include Glasgow, Stirling, Perth, Linlithgow, South Queensferry, and Dunfermline.

Awards and Recognition

Ashcroft Farmhouse has been a finalist in the AA Friendliest B & B Award, and Elizabeth was named West Lothian's Businesswoman of the Year in 2014. Derek's beautiful garden has won Business Garden of the Year for many years in West Lothian too.
