Empowering Independence, One Step at a Time

William Hall Independent Funeral Directors, situated in Newchurch on the Isle of Wight, is a reputable and well-established funeral home that has been providing compassionate and professional services to families since 1992. Founded by William Hall, the funeral home was created with the aim of offering a unique and individual service to families, providing them with the support, guidance, and care they need during a challenging time.

As an Independent Funeral Directors, we are proud members of The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF), both of which uphold the highest professional standards and adhere to a strict code of practice. Our team of six full-time professionals, who are all trained to the highest standard, is committed to serving the needs of the community with kindness, compassion, and understanding.

Our services begin as soon as you contact us and extend far beyond the day of the funeral. We provide a 24-hour, 365-day service, and our fleet of cars includes a Jaguar hearse and limousine, as well as a stunning Victorian horse-drawn hearse. We understand the importance of creating a personal and memorable service that reflects the life of the deceased, and we work closely with families to incorporate memories, music, hymns, poems, and readings to achieve this.

Springwood Woodland Cemetery

William Hall Independent Funeral Directors also owns Springwood Woodland Cemetery, which was one of the first woodland burial sites in the country when it was established in 1995. Located in a peaceful and tranquil setting, the cemetery is a haven for wildlife and offers a unique and natural alternative to traditional burial and cremation services.

Each grave at Springwood Woodland Cemetery has a tree planted in memory of the loved one, and a simple bronze memorial plaque is placed at the base of the tree. The cemetery also offers areas for cremated remains, with trees already planted, providing an option for those who prefer cremation.

Since the cemetery was created, bird feeders, nesting boxes, slowworm areas, kestrel boxes, and stands have been added, encouraging and protecting wildlife. As a result, the cemetery is now home to a variety of wildlife, including squirrels, hares, foxes, kestrels, owls, and many other birds.
