The Rose and Crown is a historic inn, established in the 1500s, making it over half a millennium old. This venerable establishment is steeped in character, boasting original oak beams, black slate floors, and a warm, inviting open log fire for those chilly winter months. Over the centuries, The Rose and Crown has seen many innkeepers, but for the past 35 years, it has been under the stewardship of the Chattaway family, who are the fifth generation of their lineage to own public houses and free houses.
Our Restaurant
Our restaurant is open seven days a week, from 11:30 am, serving traditional, home-cooked meals with a modern twist for both lunch and dinner. Our extensive selection of ales, lagers, wines, spirits, coffees, and soft drinks leaves little room for disappointment, while our long-serving and friendly staff make every guest feel welcome, ensuring you'll want to return.
Sid's Room
The inn features a charming and quirky room known as "Sid's Room, " which acquires its name from the famous local baker, Sid, who owned the bakery adjacent to The Rose and Crown for 80 years. Sid was known to pass freshly baked loaves of bread through the hatch within the pub, exchanging them for pints of beer passed back by the staff. After finishing work, Sid would spend his evenings in this very room, playing cards with friends. In memory of Sid, the room was named in his honour after his passing. Regulars still gather once a week to play cards in Sid's Room, and we are pleased to announce that we have recently decided to become a dog-friendly pub, with Sid's Room and the bar area now open to our furry friends.

Our tastefully decorated rooms are maintained to the highest standards, offering a comfortable and enjoyable stay for our guests.

For those long summer days, our spacious walled beer garden allows you to enjoy a refreshing beverage while soaking up the British sun. The garden features a large, covered area with wall heaters, perfect for those who get a little chilly. Throughout the year, various events are held at The Rose and Crown, from live DJs to saxophone players, so be sure not to miss any!
