Enhancing, Improving, and Making a Difference to Your Environment
Hertfordshire Architects Ltd (HAL) is a local architects' practice that has been established for over a decade. Based in Hertfordshire, we take pride in working with local people and businesses, covering areas such as Hertford, Welwyn Garden City, Royston, and St. Albans. We have had the privilege of serving the Hertfordshire community for the last 12 years and are excited for what the future holds.
At HAL, we value the significance of developing a brief with the client and working with them on an interactive and personal level. No project is too small for us to handle, and we are motivated by the opportunity to enhance, improve and make a difference to the environment that you live or work in. We offer a competitive fee and a professional and friendly service, maintaining full professional indemnity insurance and ensuring that you are working with a chartered member of the RIBA.
We offer a full range of services, from pre-application advice, full planning applications, and building regulations drawings to building change of use, domestic garage or loft conversion, and home extension or an entire new build. We would be happy to offer a free, no-obligation initial consultation (within a 10-mile radius) to discuss your requirements.
Why Choose an Architect?
Professionally qualified architects are the best placed people to ensure your project runs smoothly and you get the results you want. Architects provide all the information and services needed to guide you through the design and construction process, ensuring you are aware of your statutory obligations. At HAL, we often work with other specialists in the field, particularly in complex planning and conservation matters, to ensure that a first-class service can be provided.
Our Director
Our director, Pamela Stokes, is a qualified architect and a chartered member of RIBA and ARB. She graduated from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff in 1995 with a BSc Honours and a Batchelor of Architecture. In 1999, she attended Southbank University, London, gaining her Professional practice examination.
Pamela has over 20 years' experience as a qualified architect, having worked in the private sector up to associate director level in a medium-sized architectural practise. She has worked nationally across the retail, commercial & domestic sectors, including works to listed buildings and within conservation areas. We have a solid foundation to inaugurate a local architects' practice.
At HAL, we specialise in working with domestic properties, predominantly extensions but also residential conversions and new builds. We have also worked on past projects in other sectors, including community facilities, such as sports clubs and the local church, hotel extension/refurbishment, barn conversion to holiday lets, developers shell retail unit, and a light industrial unit.
Pamela loves the challenge of working with existing buildings, whether that be an extension or a conversion. She also has experience of working on listed buildings and within conservation areas. In 2021, she completed an RIBA Conservation Training Course to further develop her skills and understanding.
