Since our inception in 1967, we have been providing innovative solutions to the automotive, motorsport, and marine industries.
Our Story
Mathwall Engineering was founded by Stuart Mathieson and Peter Wallace, who left Alan Mann Racing to start their own venture. Initially, the company operated from a small lock-up in West Byfleet, Surrey, and its first job was to prepare a customer Falcon for saloon car racing. The company was immediately successful in this class of racing and subsequently picked up major saloon car racing programmes for BMW and Mazda.
Throughout the years, we have continued to expand our services, and in 2007, Stuart handed over the running of the company to his son Mark, who had spent the previous ten years working with Ilmor Engineering and Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines. Mark diversified the company's capabilities, and today, we serve the historic motorsport, motorsport, and automotive sectors.
Our Services
We offer a range of services, including Design & Analysis, Test & Development, System Engineering, Procurement & Assembly, Bespoke Projects, Prototype & Low Volume Engine Assembly, Reverse Engineering & Reconditioning, Historic Racing, and Specialist Parts & Servicing.
Our Design & Analysis service supports research and development activities, from concept layouts to prototypes to industrialised production. We also offer an independent failure analysis service. Our Test & Development capability complements our Design & Analysis service, with full design validation plans defined to support new product development.
Our Procurement & Assembly service delivers hand-assembled prototypes using a robust supplier base, and we also provide supply chain management services. Our Historic Racing division has supplied historic racing engines that meet FIA Appendix K specifications for over 50 years.
Our team has over 50 years' experience in complex system design, and our core expertise has been borne from the need to design and develop the internal combustion engine to extreme specifications. We have since applied our skills more broadly in the field of low-carbon technology development across automotive, marine, defence, oil, and gas sectors.
