Dream, believe, achieve, together

At Westwood Park Community Primary School, we are a dedicated team of educators and support staff, all working together to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for the children in our care. Our school motto, "Dream, believe, achieve, together" is at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to helping each and every child realise their full potential.

Our School Values

We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, happy and valued, and we place great emphasis on promoting positive values and behaviour. Our school values of respect, responsibility, kindness and perseverance are integral to our ethos, and we encourage all members of our school community to uphold these values in their interactions with others.

The School Day and Uniform

Our school day runs from 8.50am to 3.15pm, with breakfast club and after-school club facilities available to extend the day for working parents. We have a strict uniform policy, which we believe helps to promote a sense of community and belonging. Our uniform is smart and practical, and can be purchased from local retailers.

Staff and Governors

Our staff are a dedicated and experienced team, who work tirelessly to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all our children. We have a strong leadership team, headed up by our Headteacher, Mrs S Walker. Our governing body plays an active role in the strategic direction of the school, and we are fortunate to have a committed group of governors who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.

Admissions and Funding

Our admissions are dealt with by Salford Local Authority, and we follow their policy and advice. We are committed to ensuring that all children have access to a good education, and we work closely with families to ensure a smooth transition into school. We are able to offer free school meals to some children, which not only provides a healthy and nutritious lunch, but also brings additional funding into the school.

Policies and Ofsted

We have a range of policies in place to ensure the smooth running of the school, and to promote the safety and well-being of all our children. These policies are available to view on our website. We were last inspected by Ofsted in April 2022, and we are proud to have achieved a Good rating.

Curriculum and Learning

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, with a strong emphasis on the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. We believe that children learn best when they are engaged and motivated, and we offer a range of exciting and stimulating learning opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom. We have a well-equipped ICT suite, and all our children have access to laptops and iPads to support their learning.

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Provision

We are committed to ensuring that all children have access to a good education, and we have a strong track record of supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities. We have a dedicated SENDCo who works closely with families and external agencies to ensure that the needs of all our children are met.

Homework and Online Learning

We believe that homework is an important part of the learning process, and we set regular homework tasks to support and reinforce learning in the classroom. We also offer a range of online learning resources, including Mathletics and Bug Club, to support children's learning at home.

PSHE and RE

We place great emphasis on the personal, social and health education of our children, and we have a well-developed PSHE curriculum that covers a range of topics, including relationships, health and well-being, and citizenship. We also have a strong commitment to religious education, and we seek to promote understanding and respect for all cultures and religions.

Extra-Curricular Activities

We offer a range of extra-curricular activities, including sports clubs, music tuition, and art and design technology clubs. These clubs provide opportunities for children to develop new skills, make new friends, and have fun.
