The History
Llanthony Priory has a rich and fascinating history, dating back to the 12th century. As one of the earliest Augustinian canons in Britain, the priory was founded in response to a need to spread Christianity to the Celtic peoples of Wales. The priory's remote location in the Welsh hills made it vulnerable to attack, and it was eventually dissolved in the 16th century. Today, our hotel pays homage to this rich history, offering a unique and enchanting experience that is steeped in tradition and culture.
