Ensuring the safety of your equipment, one test at a time
We are a dedicated and dynamic company, established in 2011, specialising in Portable Appliance Testing (PAT). Our goal is to help businesses and landlords in the North East of England comply with the latest laws and regulations by providing a high-quality, professional, and affordable service. We are committed to ensuring the safety of your electrical appliances, utilising the latest PAT testing equipment and data software to conduct a comprehensive series of tests and visual inspections.
Our five-point check includes:
1. Environment check
2. Visual inspection
3. Electrical tests
4. Recording of results
5. Labelling of appliances
We also offer free socket and microwave leakage tests to all customers when on-site. Our services are not limited to certain areas, as we cover the whole of the North East, including Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, Washington, South Shields, Durham, Peterlee, Morpeth, Ashington, and Whitley Bay.
The Law & Legal Requirements
The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 are the primary pieces of legislation relevant to electrical maintenance. These regulations mandate that employers and employees ensure the safety of all persons using work premises, conduct risk assessments, maintain work equipment efficiently, and adhere to electrical safety guidelines.
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) are particularly significant in ensuring the safety of electrical appliances and systems at work. The PUWER 1998 applies to all work equipment used by workers at work, including fixed, transportable, or portable equipment connected to a source of electrical energy. PUWER does not apply to fixed installations in a building, which are instead governed by the Electricity at Work Regulations. These regulations require all electrical systems to be of such construction and maintenance to prevent, so far as reasonably practicable, such danger.
