Walk In, Cut to the Chase, With Expert Craftsmanship
The Barber's Pole has been serving the gentlemen of Aberdeen since 1992, starting with our first shop in Rosemount and expanding to seven conveniently located stores across the city and suburbs. Our main principle is to offer a value for money walk-in service for men with a short wait time, typically less than 12 minutes. You can expect experienced and friendly barbers in all of our shops who take pride in providing a genuine, affordable service. We offer concessions for OAPs, students, and children, and even have First Haircut Certificates for your little one's first visit.
Craftsmanship
Many of our barbers have over 20 years of experience, mastering both scissor and clipper work. Our team regularly attends training sessions with the top trainers in the country, ensuring that we stay up-to-date with the latest trends and can deliver various styles, from the traditional "short back and sides" to the latest skin fades and triple zeros. Our barbers cater to all ages and styles, making us the go-to barbershop for gentlemen in Aberdeen.
Careers & Training
After more than 25 successful years in business, The Barber's Pole is proud to offer refresher training for prospective barbers. Our training is tailored to individual needs and is overseen by directors Irene Mair and Ian Turnbull, both experienced salon owners and trainers. We also have skilled, experienced barbers available to help with training, offering on-trend cutting and styling guidance. We are constantly looking for experienced, motivated, self-employed barbers and hairdressers to join our team.
Hours and Locations
We operate nine branches across Aberdeen, open seven days a week until late. No appointments are necessary, allowing us to maintain our commitment to a short wait time for all customers. Our locations include Bridge of Don, Cults, and Holburn Street, each with its opening hours and concession days.
Service Quality
The majority of the reviews are positive, highlighting the staff's friendly and polite demeanor, the cleanliness of the establishment, and the quick service. Some reviewers, like Katrina Thomson, were particularly impressed with the service, stating it was the best experience in 4 years due to a medical condition. The staff's ability to maintain COVID-19 guidelines was also appreciated by Pearce Mccullagh.
However, there were a few negative experiences reported. For instance, Craig Reid found the lady in the shop to be very rude on three occasions, and he received two mediocre haircuts. Similarly, Hamza Badshah was disappointed with his uneven haircut and thought the barber seemed uninterested in cutting a young boy's hair.
Prices
Ryan Milne and HEbn found the prices to be unreasonably high, with Ryan expressing shock at the 12.50 cost for a 2-year-old's haircut. HEbn was also disappointed, feeling that the barber didn't want to cut a young boy's hair, and that the staff should have signage or customer service training to deal with small children.
Customer Service
The overall impression of the customer service is mixed. While some reviewers appreciated the staff's friendliness and politeness, others had less positive experiences. Fraser Ewen reported that the barber was lazy and turned him away due to the close of the shop at 4 pm, even though the haircut would have taken only 5 minutes.
