Proctor Watts Cole Rutter is a long established Chartered architects practice based in Shaftesbury, but providing a service across the South of England. We are a well-established architectural and town planning practice that has operated in Wessex and beyond for over fifty years. We pride ourselves on providing a personal service tailored to the individual needs of our clients. Our designs aim to maximise the potential of the site and respond to their context with materials that will age gracefully.
Our Services
Our extensive track record shows a wide range of imaginative designs in traditional and modern construction to private and public clients and developers throughout Wessex and beyond. We offer a range of services, including Architecture and Design, Planning and Building Regulations applications, Sustainable/Low Energy Design, Building surveys and feasibility studies, Listed Building and Conservation advice, and Administering building projects and contracts. The services provided vary according to each project and can be tailored to suit individual clients' needs. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will be happy to meet with you to discuss proposals in more detail. Our initial consultation visit of approximately 1 hour is free of charge and following this meeting we will set out a fee proposal based upon your individual needs.
Our Approach
Since inception, we have created a wide range of imaginative designs for private and public clients, and developers in a broad range of commissions. The practice has a well-established track record working in Conservation Areas and with historic buildings from local heritage buildings to Grade I, and even creating new listed buildings. Being members of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and on the Salisbury diocesan list of approved Architects, we are aware of the care required in dealing with historic buildings. We have also built a reputation for sensitive and sustainable modern design utilising the latest technology. We aim to create buildings using low energy, have a long life and are robust and flexible; using local materials and skills where appropriate.

Our team is led by three directors, Brian Watts, Geoff Cole, and Simon Rutter, who have a wealth of experience in the industry. We also have a team of skilled architects, technicians, and support staff who are passionate about delivering high-quality projects that meet our clients' needs.
