Accommodation and Location
The Spilman Hotel is a family-run hotel conveniently located in the heart of the town. The rooms are recently refurbished and maintain the original layout, resulting in good-sized rooms with high ceilings.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel has a pleasant bar and a surprisingly good restaurant downstairs. The inclusive breakfast offers a good selection of cereals and traditional cooked breakfast options. Dinner options are also available, with starters priced between 4.50 and 6.00. The cooked breakfast was found to be pretty good, although the sausages were a bit bland. Dinner, however, was much better.
General Impressions
The hotel has a friendly atmosphere, with lovely oak floors, a leather lounge bar, and a cosy restaurant. The restaurant has recently reopened to the public after a 20-year hiatus, and is well worth a try.
