Suie Hunting Lodge, a historical gem nestled in the heart of Glen Dochart, Crianlarich, Scotland, dates back to around 1780. Originally the shooting lodge of the Suie estate, it has served many purposes over the centuries, from a residence to a hotel. The Lodge, as it stands today, is the result of extensive renovations undertaken by the current owners, Pauline and Robbie McCaig, who took over in 2017. Their mission is to restore the building to its former glory, highlighting its original features and creating a unique experience in the Scottish Highlands.
The Suie estate, of which the Lodge was a part, has been referenced in various historical documents. The Bell of St Fillan, a significant artefact, was placed in the safekeeping of a Dewar whose land was at Suie in Glendochart in 1798. The estate changed hands multiple times before being sold to Colin McNab in 1828. It was subsequently sold and bought back by the Earl of Breadalbane in 1840 and 1856. The entire estate, including the Luib hotel, two farms, and approximately 11,000 acres of land, was sold to the Auchlyne estate in 1942, which merged it with their existing estate to form the Auchlyne and Suie Estate.
