The Commissioning Specialists Association (CSA) is a UK-based organisation dedicated to advancing and improving the commissioning function. Our mission is to provide building users, consultants, main contractors, and installation companies with a professional, quality service delivered by trained and experienced staff. We are the only body in the UK that focuses solely on the development and improvement of the commissioning function.
About the CSA: Our Mission and History
The CSA was established in 1990 by a group of leading commissioning companies. Our founders recognised the need for a professional association that could offer a guarantee of high-quality service, based on trained, qualified, and experienced field personnel. Since then, we have grown to include commissioning industry companies, individual commissioning engineers, and associated companies, such as equipment manufacturers and instrument suppliers. Our membership is committed to ensuring that the commissioning function in today's complex buildings is carried out to a consistently high standard.
The CSA acts as the voice and ears of the commissioning world, representing the views of its members in various forums and keeping them informed of developments in equipment, instrumentation, and legislation. We are dedicated to promoting the importance of the commissioning function and its impact on the overall performance of buildings.
Services Offered by the CSA
The CSA offers a range of services to support the commissioning industry:
- Training & Career: We provide formal education for commissioning technicians and others through our Distance Learning Courses (A, B & C) and "Introduction to Commissioning Management" course. We also offer an "Individual Path of Development" for those looking to advance their careers in the field.
- Publications: Our publications include the Engineers Compendium, Technical Memoranda, Guidance Notes, and "Index" the CSA Newsletter, which provide valuable resources and information for commissioning professionals.
- Committees: Our committees include a Main Committee, Training, Technical, Marketing, and Management Committees, comprised of CSA members who volunteer their time to move the association forward.
- Overseas Chapters: Our GCC Chapter (Gulf Cooperation Council) based in Dubai, UAE, is led by Mr. Lee Hewitt, the current GCC Chapter Chairman.
