Nestled in the picturesque Fife countryside of Scotland, Sandford Country Cottages offers a unique blend of luxury and tradition. Located just 10 miles from St Andrews and 5 miles from Dundee, our charming cottages are set within the courtyard of Sandford House, a 'B' Listed Arts and Crafts House designed by the acclaimed architect, Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott around 1902.
Our History
Sandford House lay empty and unloved from 2007 until 2010 when it was rescued by the present owners, Evelyn and Ralph. Their vision was to restore it to a family home with guest accommodation to help with the costs of repair. After years of hard work, the restoration is now complete, and the property has been lovingly brought back to life.
The restoration project caught the attention of the BBC, who filmed the changes over an 18-month period. The resulting programme, 'Restoration Home - Sandford House', was hosted by the popular actress, Caroline Quentin, and broadcast worldwide.
Our Location
Our cottages are situated in the heart of the Fife countryside, offering stunning views and a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With St Andrews just a short drive away, you can easily enjoy a day out exploring the historic town or playing a round of golf on one of its famous courses. Dundee is also within easy reach, offering a range of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions.
Our Accommodation
Our six luxury, 5-star self-catering properties are furnished to an exceptionally high standard, combining contemporary and antique furniture to create a boutique style. Each cottage has its own entrance door and outdoor terrace or balcony, with all properties sharing the large 7-acre garden, perfect for picnics, walking, and relaxing.
Our new treehouse is a popular choice for both children and adults, and our BBQ hut is available for guests to hire when staying. Each kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern appliances you would expect, including a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine, electric oven and hob, microwave, and coffee machine.
Every bedroom has en-suite facilities, with either a bath/shower or a dedicated power shower. Scottish Fine Soaps toiletries are provided in each bathroom, along with fluffy white towels and bath mats. Beds are either superking, king size, double or twin and have luxury duvets with Egyptian cotton bed linen. Microfibre bedding can also be provided if required.
We accept one or two small, well-behaved dogs in Lady Bluebell's Apartment and are happy to offer a low occupancy discount in all our properties at certain times of the year.
Our brand new detached property, The Coach House, is perfect for anyone with mobility issues as everything is on one level, and the large wet room is ideal for wheelchair users. We accept assistance dogs in this property.
