Located on the shores of the Sound of Islay, overlooking the pier where daily car ferries berth on arrival from the Scottish mainland, Port Askaig Hotel is a picturesque, family-run Highland Inn with a rich history dating back over 50 years. Our hotel boasts an unbeatable coastal location, making it the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful island of Islay and its surrounding areas.

Quality Accommodation

Our hotel offers a mix of 13 double/twin/family rooms + 1 single room, all with en-suite facilities. The annex has two completely refurbished en-suite rooms, both with stunning views over the small harbour and Sound of Islay to the Isle of Jura. Guests resident in the annex have shared use of a small TV lounge.

At Port Askaig Hotel, you can indulge in quality malts and a menu featuring local Islay meat and seafood from the daily catch. Our Starboard Restaurant offers Bistro-style dining with a full meal service in both bars and hot snacks available outwith main meal times. Our Port Bar is the oldest licensed premises on Islay and features an extensive selection of Islay Malts and a display of old and rare bottles, whilst the Snug Bar is ideal for a pre-dinner drink or a cosy evening with friends.

We can now book for guests - subject to availability - Distillery and/or sightseeing tours with a local driver who can bring the island to life for you. This can be for a number of guests by car (1-4 persons) or by mini bus (8-15 seats). Fly Fishing with John McCullum, a locally based professional Fly Fishing Guide - suitable for both experienced and novice anglers. Wildlife spotting/sea fishing and scenic tours by boat. Very experienced and knowledgeable skippers ensure you have a safe and memorable trip.

Port Askaig Harbour

The newly upgraded harbour facilities are suitable for smaller visiting boats, and we are always willing to assist with fuel outwith standard opening times at our adjacent filling station and stores.
